Sadness is beautiful

It’s a Buddhist technique — meditation technique? Lifestyle technique? I’m not exactly sure where it’s from.

It involves emotions and being present. The technique is that whenever you feel a specific emotion – especially the negative emotions that we tend to avoid – you simply recognize it.

If you’re feeling sad, make that mental note: Sadness is here.

Don’t try to change it, fight it, or transform it. Usually that will only make the negative emotion worse.

Just recognize it. Sit with it. And eventually you might see sadness as beautiful.
